Since there wasn't much to celebrate about our country this year, I found myself reflecting on a different kind of freedom. The kind that begins deep inside your mind, body, and soul.
A freedom that exists on an entirely different scale. Not a smaller one...because there is nothing minor about it...but a personal scale. This is where you access the source of real liberation and everything you truly desire.
When you free yourself from systemic rules, societal expectations, and rigid norms, you clear the space to become the real you. You begin to untangle what is not yours from what is. You allow your truest self to step forward and just express—completely unfiltered. No doubting, no second-guessing, no being self-conscious or having imposter syndrome. You just go for it without worrying what others may think, say or do.
There is a sweet freedom here. The question is how do we get there?
First of all, it takes courage.
Secondly, it takes trust.
And finally, it calls for confidence in your worthiness.
It’s not easy, but we didn’t sign up for an easy life. An easy life would be dull. And we wouldn’t appreciate Easy if we didn’t have Challenge for contrast. So, if you seek true liberation, you have to be ready and willing to take everyday steps and adjustments.
True freedom is to be who we are without fear. True freedom to believe in ourselves and the Universe again. Our minds can be prisons filled with illusions of limitation that we've absorbed from others and the world. When we break free and remember our trueness, good things can follow. We liberate ourselves from controlling relationships, dead marriages, emotional abuse, and betrayal. Because when you root yourself in personal freedom, you lose the capacity to tolerate toxicity. When we snap out of old, dogmatic programming, we open the door to making conscious, deliberate, and intentional choices—in how we show up, how we guide our children, and how we value the people around us. But that ripple effect only happens when we care for, educate, and value ourselves first. It requires waking up.
Take a look inward and ask yourself: What do I actually believe? What do I think? What do I feel? What do I want?
Do any of your old beliefs need an update? The truth is, we outgrow our former selves. It is so easy to unconsciously adopt the worldview of our families, friends, or culture. Do you have the courage to investigate who you are at your absolute essence? You are not required to be a carbon copy of your upbringing or your environment. There is so much more to you than that.
This is your liberation. It’s the one thing you can completely control. And it is exactly how you step into the person you were always meant to be.
Just go for it!
